Advertising policy

Ads do not change the water data.

Water Quality Lookup may use advertising in the future, but monetization does not control source hierarchy, corrections, methodology, or careful water-quality language.

Ads may be usedReserved slots only

This page sets the boundary before monetization: advertising cannot make limited public data sound more complete, more alarming, or more reassuring than the sources support.

Boundaries

How advertising is separated from editorial work

Ads may support the site, but the site remains source-backed first.

  • Ads, sponsors, or affiliate relationships do not decide what official sources are used.
  • Ads do not change whether a page says data is limited, missing, historical, or incomplete.
  • Ads do not affect whether a correction is accepted, rejected, or held for source review.
  • Ads do not soften or strengthen water-quality risk language.
  • Ads are not placed inside source lists, methodology callouts, limitation callouts, urgent-notice context, or above official source links on sensitive pages.
  • Filter, testing, or water-treatment monetization does not turn into a recommendation that every user needs to buy a product.

Current site

What is present now

The public site includes labeled ad placements, but no ad network is currently loaded.

  • Google Tag Manager is present and disclosed on the privacy page.
  • The site includes labeled, reserved ad slots but does not currently load AdSense or another ad network.
  • If advertising is added later, privacy and advertising disclosures need to match the live site.
  • Current pages keep source, methodology, and limitation sections separate from ad space.
