Two Connecticut reports, with their original dates
Read the existing report summaries first. Aquarion’s report was reviewed July 27, 2026, and Danbury’s July 28, 2026; those reviews are separate from this guide’s September source check.
Aquarion Eastern Fairfield County · CT0150011
2025 report and source-water context
The Eastern Fairfield County report describes mostly surface-water supplies, supplemented by the Westport Coleytown well fields. Its report summary preserves the printed 2025 testing periods and the barium row’s 2024/2025 period.
The system serves communities across the area. Its name and report do not establish which provider or source-water mix serves a particular address today.
Danbury Water Department · CT0340011
Spring 2026 report, mainly 2025 results
Danbury’s Spring 2026 report mainly describes 2025 testing, with older dates retained where individual rows identify them. The report summary keeps regulated results, secondary or non-regulated results, and the PFAS table distinct.
Printed comparisons and status cells describe the report period. They do not determine present-day compliance, advisories or conditions at a household tap.

Review methodologyStatewide context
Understand what Connecticut’s records describe
State oversight
DPH oversees public drinking water
Connecticut’s Department of Public Health Drinking Water Section administers the state’s public drinking-water program under federal Safe Drinking Water Act primacy. Its work includes monitoring, source protection and compliance oversight.
Public-system records and private-well information follow different paths. A nearby utility’s annual report does not describe a private well.
Annual records · 2025
A testing result is one type of record
DPH’s annual compliance report, published in July 2026, says 472,788 water-quality testing results collected in 2025 were submitted to the department. That is a count of testing results, not households, water systems or records available on this site.
The report distinguishes contaminant-limit violations, treatment requirements, and missing monitoring or reporting. A missing test or report does not itself establish a contaminant level; an annual record is not a live advisory.
Source-water assessments
Older susceptibility ratings need their original context
DPH says its 2003 Source Water Assessment Reports have not been updated since their original creation and that the underlying data may no longer be accurate. The reports describe source vulnerability and potential contamination, rather than a current household water test.
These reports are no longer posted on the program website. DPH explains how to request a copy using the public water system’s name or PWSID, or the location if those are unknown.
Official record help
Identify the provider before choosing a Connecticut record
Use the name and PWSID on your utility bill or issued report. DPH’s consumer and contact pages provide an official route when the provider or record is unclear.
Provider and agency help
Ask for the specific record you need
- Find the utility’s name on your bill or annual report. If someone else pays the bill, ask the property manager which provider serves the building.
- Keep the PWSID, report year and question together. A source assessment, sample result, annual report and current notice answer different questions.
- Use DPH’s Drinking Water Section contact page for agency help with public-system or compliance questions. Ask the provider to confirm service to your address and explain its current instructions.
Report identity example · CT0150011
Eastern Fairfield County is a system name
The reviewed Aquarion report identifies Eastern Fairfield County System as PWSID CT0150011 and lists Bridgeport among the communities served. Our existing report and system profile use that exact identity.
Use the system name and PWSID when asking for records. Confirm your provider before applying any system’s report to your home.

Choose a resource for your next question
Lead and service lines
Ask about your property’s service line
DPH’s lead and copper guidance covers service-line inventories and customer notifications. Ask your utility what it records for your property, how an unknown material is handled, and which testing or replacement options apply.
An inventory classification and a water sample are different records; neither should be inferred from a city name or a neighboring property.
PFAS
Keep the compound, units and date together
DPH provides Connecticut PFAS guidance and public-water monitoring resources. When reading a result, retain its compound name, unit, sample date and location, and distinguish the report’s printed comparison from current agency requirements.
The linked guidance supplies regulatory context; this guide does not present a statewide PFAS results table or infer conditions at an address.
Private wells
Use the local health and laboratory pathway
Connecticut DPH says private-well owners are responsible for testing their water and maintaining their wells. Local health departments and districts oversee well siting and approval in their towns.
Use the private-well program and environmental laboratory resources to plan testing. Confirm the specific test and sampling instructions with the laboratory; a public-system report is not a substitute.
Reports and current instructions
Get the issued report and check the provider’s notices
Ask the provider for its issued report and the year you need if you cannot find it online. For current instructions, use the provider’s notice channels or contact it directly; DPH’s Drinking Water Section is the state contact path.
Danbury ALERT is a city emergency-notification option. Check its enrollment information and categories; it is not a statewide water-advisory feed or proof that every water notice will reach an address.
Record questions
Common Connecticut record questions
Why does a 2026 report contain 2025 results?
A report’s title year can differ from its sampling periods. Danbury’s Spring 2026 report mainly covers 2025 testing; use the dates printed with each result.
Can I use an old source assessment as a current result?
No. DPH warns that its 2003 assessments have not been updated and their underlying data may no longer be accurate. They describe source vulnerability, not current conditions at your tap.
Does a city name confirm my water provider?
No. A regional system can serve several communities, while an address may use another provider or a private well. Confirm the provider using your bill, property manager or utility.
