Report context

Three Georgia systems, reports covering 2025

Atlanta · GA1210001

Chattahoochee River source and separate result tables

Atlanta’s 2025 Water Quality Report identifies the Chattahoochee River as its source. The report separates treatment-plant and distribution-system results from its residential lead and copper sampling table.

Its unregulated-contaminant monitoring section has a different scope from the regulated results. Keep the named substance, sampling period, and table definition attached when comparing findings.

Augusta · GA2450000

River water and South Augusta groundwater

Augusta’s 2025 report identifies the Savannah River as the source for the Highland Avenue and Max Hicks treatment plants. It also describes South Augusta wells drawing from the Cretaceous Aquifer.

Its lead table reports individual sampling sites above the action level while the violation field says No. Site counts, the system’s 90th-percentile result, and the violation field describe different measures; they should be read together.

North Fulton County · GA1210005

A 2026 report describing 2025 monitoring

Fulton County’s 2026 Water Quality Report covers January 1 through December 31, 2025, except where a different period is identified. It describes Chattahoochee River water treated at the Tom Lowe Atlanta-Fulton County Water Treatment Plant in Johns Creek.

The report’s service-line inventory discussion distinguishes county and property-owner portions and describes ongoing verification of unknown materials. The Johns Creek city entry connects to this selected system record; it does not establish a provider for every address in the city.

Statewide context

How to read these Georgia water records

Source water

Two river settings and an aquifer

Atlanta and North Fulton County describe the Chattahoochee River. Augusta describes both Savannah River water and Cretaceous Aquifer groundwater. These are system-level source descriptions from the selected reports.

A source-water assessment concerns potential contamination around a source or its watershed. It is different from a treated-water monitoring result or a test at a household tap.

Report timing

Keep the cover year and sampling year separate

Atlanta and Augusta use 2025 in their report titles. North Fulton County uses 2026 in the title while identifying 2025 as the main monitoring period. Individual tables can carry other sample dates.

The selected system profiles retain their July 30, 2026 review date. This guide’s September 13 source review does not change the dates of monitoring, historical notices, or service-line information.

Notices and conservation

A drought notice answers a different question

Fulton County provides separate drought-status and emergency-repair resources. Conservation restrictions concern water use; a drinking-water advisory supplies instructions for an identified event and affected area.

Use the provider’s current notice for instructions and confirm whether your location is included. A previously lifted notice or an annual-report finding does not establish current advisory status.

Official lookup

Find a Georgia public water system by PWSID

Georgia EPD

Start with the official Drinking Water Watch link

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division’s drinking-water program links the public Drinking Water Watch database. Searching a full PWSID helps distinguish similar system names.

In the reviewed public search, GA1210001 returned one ATLANTA record. Its detail page identified Fulton County and a surface-water source classification. These identity fields do not establish service to a particular address.

  1. Enter GA1210001 in the water-system ID search field and choose Search.
  2. Open the ATLANTA result and compare the PWSID with the provider’s annual report.
  3. Choose the relevant record category and check its date range before interpreting samples or violations. Confirm your own provider using a bill or direct contact.

Other selected records

Use the system identifier, not just the city name

The other selected identifiers are GA2450000 for Augusta and GA1210005 for North Fulton County. Johns Creek is a city entry point for the North Fulton County record.

The public database offers separate sample and violation destinations. The identity search described here does not certify a complete current compliance or advisory search. If a report link fails, use the utility’s report archive or ask for the report title and monitoring year, including an accessible copy if needed.

Official resources

Georgia tools for wells, service lines, and notices

Private wells

Ask county health or UGA Extension about testing

Georgia’s Department of Public Health recommends annual bacterial testing for individual private wells. Its guidance directs residents to county Environmental Health offices and local UGA Cooperative Extension services.

The guidance describes a separate chemical screening panel every three years through UGA Extension. Ask which tests fit your well and follow the laboratory’s collection instructions; requirements for wells serving public facilities have a different scope.

Lead service lines

Use the inventory and confirm unknown materials

Fulton County’s report describes an inventory first published in October 2024 and ongoing work to verify unknown service-line materials. It distinguishes the county portion from the property-owner portion.

Use the provider’s inventory resources and ask how to confirm the line at your property. An inventory classification is different from a lead result at the tap; ask separately about testing or replacement assistance.

Rules and PFAS

Keep report discussion tied to its date

The selected reports include lead and PFAS or unregulated-monitoring information with different table and reporting scopes. Augusta’s PFAS discussion includes regulatory context that belongs to the dated report.

Georgia EPD provides current program guidance, consumer-report resources, and rule-related materials. Proposed rules, meeting notices, and future plans do not by themselves establish an enacted deadline or completed work.

Provider notices

Check the utility’s notice and affected area

Fulton County’s water-services resources include emergency repairs, drought status, and emergency notifications. Each answers a different question; a repair update alone may not be a drinking-water instruction.

Use the provider’s latest dated notice, confirm the affected area, and ask the provider if the instructions are unclear. Alert enrollment and public web notices have their own coverage limits.

Georgia questions

Questions raised by the Georgia reports

Report years

Why does North Fulton County’s report say 2026?

The cover identifies the 2026 report edition. The report states that its principal monitoring period is January through December 2025, with exceptions identified where relevant. Use both dates when citing it.

City and system

Does a Johns Creek result identify my provider?

It identifies a reviewed city-to-system connection to North Fulton County. Confirm the provider for your address using your water bill or direct contact; a city name or report map alone does not establish service.

Lead results

Why can a site exceedance appear beside a No field?

Augusta’s report separates individual-site exceedance counts, its 90th-percentile result, and a violation field. Those fields answer different questions. Read the table definitions and lead narrative rather than treating any single cell as a summary of every tap.

Water notices

Is a drought restriction a boil-water advisory?

They address different circumstances. A conservation or drought restriction concerns water use; a drinking-water advisory gives instructions for a particular event. Use the current provider notice and its affected-area description.
