What Idaho’s selected reports help explain
Pocatello · 2025 report
Check the sample year within each table
Pocatello’s 2025 report also includes results collected in earlier years. Our report overview keeps those dates attached to the results, so the report’s title does not turn every measurement into a 2025 sample.
Read the result, unit, sample date and table note together when comparing entries.
Lewiston · 2025 report
Use the document’s reporting year
Lewiston’s official report link still contains an older year in its filename, but the linked document is the 2025 report. Its official archive and the system identity record help establish which provider the document belongs to.
The report’s Violations and Exceedances heading has no entry beneath it. An empty heading does not establish that there were no violations.
Caldwell · 2025 report
Keep older lead and copper samples in context
Caldwell’s 2025 report includes lead, copper and lithium samples from 2023. Those collection dates matter when comparing the annual report with newer records.
Our overview uses the previously reviewed report. The provider’s report destination did not allow a fresh download during this state-guide review.

Public systems
DEQ oversees Idaho’s public drinking-water program
The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality provides public-system records, drinking-water guidance and regional contacts. A city name is a starting point; the public water system ID identifies the system record.
For a service question, compare the supplier on a water bill with the official record and ask the supplier to confirm the address. County and source-water filters narrow records without establishing property service.
Private wells
Use the well-owner testing pathway
A private domestic well follows a different information pathway from a public-system annual report. Idaho’s well guidance connects owners with testing, laboratory and public-health resources.
Ask the laboratory which tests it can perform and how it wants the sample collected before taking a sample. A nearby public-system result does not describe a private well.

Worked example
Find Pocatello by its public water system ID
The exact-ID search returns POCATELLO CITY OF, ID6030043. Open the system ID to confirm the identity before following its sample, schedule or violation links.
- Enter ID6030043 in Water System No.
- Choose Search For Water Systems.
- Open the POCATELLO CITY OF result and check that its ID is ID6030043.
- Use the record category relevant to your question; check its dates and scope.
Finding PFAS records
Search for a particular analyte
DEQ’s PFAS page describes a more specific route: find a system, choose Chem/Rad Samples/Results by Analyte, then choose the four-digit analyte code.
That route looks for reported sample records. A missing result can reflect the analyte, reporting period or available records; it is not a zero result or a statewide conclusion.

Annual reports
Ask the supplier for the report year you need
Idaho’s drinking-water FAQs direct customers to their supplier for a Consumer Confidence Report. Use the provider’s archive and check the year inside the document.
If a link is missing, blocked or difficult to use, ask the supplier for that reporting year and a usable copy. DEQ’s contact directory is a separate route for program questions.
Notices and alerts
Confirm the affected area and the issuing provider
Idaho’s FAQs explain that a boil advisory may be issued by the water provider or DEQ. Check the issuing organization, affected area and effective dates on the actual notice.
Ask the provider whether an alert subscription covers your service area. The selected reports on this page are historical documents and do not establish today’s advisory status.
Lead and service lines
Ask about the material record for the property
DEQ’s lead and copper resources explain service-line inventories and provide materials for public systems. Ask your supplier for the inventory entry associated with the property and how an unknown material is verified.
A system’s lead sample summary and a property’s service-line material answer different questions. Ask about local testing or replacement options and their eligibility directly.
Common questions
Questions about Idaho records
Record identity
Is the database’s internal number the PWSID?
No. The Pocatello record uses public water system ID ID6030043. A separate internal record number can appear in the web address; keep the public ID when comparing the system with other sources.
Report versions
Does an old filename mean the report is old?
Not always. Lewiston’s observed official link has an older year in its filename while the document itself is the 2025 report. Check the document title, reporting period and provider archive together.
Result scope
Do selected Idaho reports describe the whole state?
No. The reports describe their named systems and printed periods. The available city and system pages are selected site coverage, without a statewide inventory, ranking or address-level service claim.
