Truckee Meadows · 2025 report

Lake Tahoe, the Truckee River and groundwater

Truckee Meadows Water Authority's 2025 report identifies Lake Tahoe and the Truckee River system as its principal source setting, with groundwater also contributing to its supply. The report explicitly says its data were collected for the 2024 calendar year.

The utility's report describes its own supply and treatment. A Reno or Sparks mailing address alone does not establish that the report applies to a property.

Carson City · 2026 report

Keep source conditions tied to the report year

Carson City's report describes its groundwater basins alongside surface-water facilities. It explains that the surface-water treatment plant was being rebuilt and was not used in 2025. That dated operating context matters when reading the report; it is not a claim about today's plant status.

Henderson · 2026 report

Start with the existing reviewed record

Our Henderson system page brings together the reviewed report link, selected results and their source limitations. If the city's report download is unavailable, request a copy from the provider and confirm the reporting period. The guide review does not replace the original report review.

Statewide context

How Nevada water information fits together

Oversight

Public systems and private wells have different paths

NDEP's Bureau of Safe Drinking Water oversees the public drinking-water program. Its private-well page explains that the bureau does not regulate private-well water quality and directs owners to testing and laboratory resources. A public-system report does not describe a nearby private well.

Historical records

Annual reporting and quarterly snapshots differ

NDEP's annual compliance reports summarize the program and types of reported violations. Its separate non-compliance publication is updated quarterly. The August 2026 edition uses different measurement periods for different entries, such as recent-quarter nitrate results and running annual averages for arsenic.

Keep the document date, public system ID and measurement period together. A dated compliance summary is not a continuously updated list of provider advisories.

Source water

A primary-source label does not describe every source

The official Truckee Meadows record lists a primary source-water type, while the utility report describes both the river system and groundwater. Source categories are summaries of a public system; they do not identify the water arriving at a particular address on a given day.

Search steps

Start with the provider name or full system number

Nevada's public Drinking Water Watch search offers system number, name, county, system type and primary source-water type. The name and number on a bill or report are a better starting point than assuming the city is the provider.

  1. Enter the full public water system number or provider name.
  2. Choose Search For Water Systems and open the matching system number.
  3. Compare the record with your bill or annual report and ask the provider to confirm service at your property.

Verified example

Truckee Meadows Water Authority · NV0000190

Our September 13, 2026 review submitted NV0000190 in the public search and returned one TRUCKEE MEADOWS WATER AUTHORITY record. Following its actual result link confirmed the same system; EPA's exact-ID record matched it too.

The search also offers sample categories and collection-date fields. Its form states that a sample search defaults to the last two years unless a date range is supplied. Check those filters before interpreting an empty result.

Annual reports

Use the reporting period printed inside the document

Truckee Meadows' report site provides the utility's report path. For a missing report or a different format, ask the confirmed provider for a copy. The 2025 Truckee Meadows document covers 2024 data, while other reports may use the reporting year in their title.

Notices and contacts

Confirm current instructions with the provider

For an advisory, confirm the provider, affected area, effective date and instructions, then check for an update or lifting notice. NDEP's bureau contact directory identifies program staff for drinking-water questions. Historical compliance entries and annual reports do not replace a current provider notice.

Lead and plumbing

Ask about the connection and the tap separately

NDEP's lead FAQ explains that plumbing materials, the time water remains in pipes and water chemistry can affect lead in drinking water. It directs residents to certified laboratories and their water systems for testing questions. Ask the provider about its service-line records; a system-level result does not establish a property's pipe material or tap result.

PFAS

Keep the project map within its sampling scope

NDEP's PFAS resources link a Nevada sampling project and map. A project result describes the system, location and sampling period recorded there. Keep the compound, units and reporting limit with the result, and use current dated rule information for any regulatory comparison. A map entry does not describe every household served by a system.

Private wells and laboratories

Check certification for drinking-water analysis

NDEP's testing page distinguishes drinking-water certification from other environmental laboratory certifications. Before sending a sample, ask whether the laboratory is certified for the drinking-water analysis you need and whether it accepts residential samples.

The bureau's private-well resources also link collection and testing guidance. Follow the laboratory's collection, storage and delivery instructions; a neighboring well's result cannot substitute for testing your own supply.

Common questions

Reading Nevada sources without mixing their scope

Sample searches

Why might an older sample be missing from the first search?

Nevada's Drinking Water Watch form says sample searches default to the last two years unless a specific date range is supplied. Check the collection-date fields and sample category. An empty filtered result is not proof that a system has never been sampled.

Report dates

Why does a 2025 report describe 2024?

Truckee Meadows' document is titled 2025 Water Quality Report and explicitly identifies the 2024 calendar year as its data period. The title year and the sampling period are separate pieces of information.

Laboratory choice

Is any environmental laboratory certification sufficient?

NDEP explains that laboratories can hold different environmental certifications. Ask specifically about Nevada drinking-water certification for the analysis you need and obtain sample instructions before collecting water.
