Report context

Three Virginia reports explain connected but distinct systems

Virginia Beach · VA3810900

Lake Gaston water is treated through Norfolk’s system

Virginia Beach’s 2026 report covers 2025 data. It describes the Lake Gaston pipeline to Lake Prince and treatment at Norfolk’s Moores Bridges plant before distribution in Virginia Beach.

Virginia Beach remains a separate public-system identity, VA3810900. The supply relationship does not identify a home’s current source blend.

Norfolk · VA3710100

Several source waters support two treatment plants

Norfolk’s 2025 report describes a supply network of eight reservoirs, two rivers, and four deep wells, with two treatment plants. Its system ID is VA3710100.

A source-water map shows supply context. It does not establish the service boundary or the source reaching a particular address.

Portsmouth · VA3740600

Source waters and a missed monitoring round

Portsmouth’s 2025 report identifies Lake Meade, with influences from Lakes Cohoon and Kilby, Speight’s Run Reservoir, and five deep wells. The full system ID is VA3740600.

The report discloses a missed 2024 lead-and-copper monitoring round. It separately describes paperwork resolution in April 2026 and interim sampling beginning in May 2026. Those statements do not establish current resolution of the monitoring issue.

Supplier relationships

A shared treatment relationship does not merge system identities

Virginia Beach’s report describes treatment through Norfolk, while each city retains its own public-system ID and annual report. Start with the retail supplier shown on the bill, then use supplier context to understand the report.

Edition and data year

Virginia Beach’s 2026 edition reports 2025 data

The edition date and monitoring period are separate. Virginia Beach’s report is labeled 2026 but covers January through December 2025; individual rows can refer to older sample periods.

Use the table’s sample date when comparing a report with another record.

PFAS study phases

Study results and later monitoring have different coverage

VDH’s PFAS page separates its initial sample study from later monitoring phases and labels the related progress periods. These sections are not interchangeable statewide results.

Keep the system, sample type, study phase, and date attached to a finding. This guide does not turn those resources into current household or compliance conclusions.

  2. Open the VIRGINIA BEACH, CITY OF result.
  3. Confirm VA3810900 and the provider name on the detail page before choosing a record category.

Report resources

The state’s CCR page supports report preparation

VDH’s Consumer Confidence Reports page provides preparation and certification resources for waterworks. The official provider pages are the direct starting points for the three reports reviewed here.

If a needed record or usable report copy is missing, ask the supplier or Office of Drinking Water for help. Keep the PWSID, report year, and table label with the question.

Official resources

Use Virginia’s reports and resident guidance

Current instructions

Follow the notice for the affected supply

VDH provides consumer boil-water information. Check the supplier’s current notice, affected area, issue date, and any later instructions before deciding which message applies.

An annual report is not a live notice feed. Ask the provider how it distributes alerts for your connection.

Lead information

Use the consumer resources and the provider’s inventory

VDH’s lead-and-copper hub separates consumer information from resources for waterworks, schools, and childcare settings. Choose the section related to your question. Portsmouth’s report also points customers to its service-line inventory.

Ask your utility about the connection’s recorded materials and any testing or replacement options. A material record is not a tap-water sample.

Private wells

Use Virginia’s private-well program for your own supply

VDH’s private-well program links well information, a records-request tool, and water-quality interpretation resources. Use the program to locate help relevant to your well and testing question.

A well construction record or nearby public-system report cannot replace analysis of your own water.

PFAS information

Choose the study and monitoring period carefully

VDH’s PFAS page brings together study phases, monitoring information, and regulatory resources. Check the date and scope of the specific section you use.

The page also discusses proposed rule changes; a proposal should not be read as a completed change to a drinking-water requirement.

Common questions

Questions these Virginia records can help answer

Connected systems

Should a Virginia Beach customer start with Norfolk’s report?

Start with the retail supplier shown on the bill. Virginia Beach is VA3810900 and Norfolk is VA3710100. The treatment relationship helps explain supply, but it does not replace the retail system’s report.

Report years

Why is Virginia Beach’s reviewed report labeled 2026?

The edition is labeled 2026 and summarizes 2025 data. Keep the report edition, covered year, and each row’s sample date separate.

Source maps

Does Norfolk’s source map establish service to my home?

No. It describes source-water context. Confirm your supplier through the water bill or provider before using a public-system record for an address-related question.
