Read the report year and its disclosures together
Wheeling · 2025 report
Keep the deficiency table’s dates in view
Wheeling’s report describes Clearview Tank screening work due July 31, 2025 and completed in August 2025. It also contains 2026 extension and evaluation language for other deficiency items.
The separate violation table has a 2026 heading while referring to the 2025 tank-work dates. Our overview preserves that printed context without treating it as a statement of present compliance or notice status.
Beckley · reviewed 2024 report
Keep the two treatment-plant columns separate
Our Beckley overview covers the reviewed 2024 report and keeps Sweeneysburg and Glade Creek results in their own columns. Its lead-and-copper rows use 2023 samples.
The provider now also publishes a 2025 report. That newer official document is linked below; it has not replaced the report reviewed in our existing overview.
Weirton · 2025 report
Read the monitoring disclosures with the tables
Weirton’s report includes monitoring violations from earlier periods and a separate monitoring notice prepared April 21, 2026 and distributed June 11, 2026. Missing required monitoring and a measured contaminant result are different kinds of information.
The final monthly-operating-report entry has a blank explanation or action cell. The report’s dated explanations and corrective-action statements do not establish the current status of those items.

Review methodologyStatewide context
Separate system records, source water and property service
Public-water program
Use the Environmental Engineering Division’s resources
West Virginia’s Environmental Engineering Division provides public-water compliance, report, service-line inventory and laboratory resources. The Drinking Water Viewer is a separate public record tool.
Keep the supplier’s name and public system ID together when comparing records. A city or county label does not prove that the supplier serves a particular property.
Source-water protection
An assessment describes the source and its setting
The state’s source-water assessment and wellhead-protection program addresses potential contamination around public supplies. A protection area or source description is different from a customer service boundary.
Confirm the supplier using a bill or direct utility contact before choosing a system report.

Public-system records
Search the full PWSID and open the matching system
In the state’s Drinking Water Viewer, a search for WV3303516 returned one WHEELING result. Its detail page identified OHIO/WHEELING and federal source SW. The annual report and EPA identity record use the same PWSID.
This confirms the reviewed system identity. It does not establish service to an address or complete a current compliance or advisory search. Check each record category and its dates before comparing it with an annual report.
- Enter WV3303516 in the Water System ID field and select Search.
- Open the WV3303516 link for WHEELING and compare the identifier and system name with the supplier’s annual report.
- Choose the relevant record category and check its dates. Confirm the provider for your address using your water bill or direct contact.
Service-line information
Use the supplier for a property’s inventory entry
The state inventory portal provides submission and notification resources for water systems. It should not be treated as a completed lookup of a property’s pipe material.
Ask the supplier for the material record associated with the connection and how an unknown entry can be checked. A lead sample summary does not identify the material of a particular service line.

Annual reports
Check the document opened by the link
Beckley’s archive now offers a 2025 report through its image and Learn More link. Some report-heading links point to older files, so check the year inside the opened document.
For an unavailable or difficult-to-read report, ask the supplier for the specific year and a usable copy. The state’s CCR resources explain the report program.
Notices and compliance
Use dated disclosures and current instructions for their own purposes
The state’s annual compliance reports, a supplier’s annual report and a current notice describe different periods and purposes. A historical corrective-action statement does not replace a current provider update.
Check the issuer, affected area, effective dates and any later update on the actual notice. Ask the supplier which alerts cover the property.
Private wells and testing
Distinguish testing from driller certification
West Virginia lists certified water-quality laboratories and has a separate well-driller and pump-installer certification program. Those resources answer different questions about testing and construction.
For a private well, use the well-owner guidance and confirm the laboratory’s current certification and collection instructions for the requested tests. The state’s school lead-sampling program is specific to schools.

Common questions
Questions about West Virginia water records
Report versions
Why does our Beckley overview still say 2024?
That is the reporting period of the document previously reviewed for the overview. The newly available official 2025 report is a separate source; its publication does not change the older report’s dates or results.
Monitoring records
Is a monitoring violation the same as a high sample result?
No. Weirton’s report includes missed-monitoring disclosures as well as measured results. Read the violation type, period and explanation alongside the sample tables rather than treating one as the other.
Report dates
Do Wheeling’s completion statements prove current status?
No. They are dated statements in the annual report, which also contains a differently dated violation heading and other deficiency items. Use the provider and state records for a current question.
